growth on wrist

I've just had a growth on my wrist exaimined by my primary care doctor at the VA. She seemed very concerned and told me she was going to refer me to Plastic Surgery and not dermatology because dermatology would not be able to remove a growth that deep or large. I am concerned because the soonest appointment for Plastic Surgery is a month away. If I have some type of skin cancer is this time frame acceptable or should I press for a sooner appointment? I'm very concerned!

Press for a quicker appointment! Be assertive! All they can do is say no. From your description, this sounds very serious. You should not waste any time!
