I am trying to change my picture/avatar and when I add another URL with a different picture, press submit, it goes to the next screen and says: "Genderis is a required field".

So I am lost and can't change my picture, please help thanks. \:\)

I think that would be "Gender [space] is a required field."

You might try filling in the Gender field. It shouldn't be required, but that may be how things are set up now.

In your profile there's a category "Gender" where you can state whether you are male or female. It has been set on the new board as required, whereas it wasn't required before. That means new users must give an answer, but old users without it can continue to leave it blank - until they want to change something, when they must fill it in.

We could make it no longer required, but actually I think it would avoid occasional confusion if people said what their gender is. If you strongly object you can put a - there or something like that.

Actually, I wanted to fill in my gender, whatever it may be, but when I tried to save my profile, it complained that my sig was too long (a bit over the 100-character limit). That's a pretty low number, considering that ubb formatting characters take up a lot of space. I think sdp increased the limit to 150.

Now you can't put color UBB code in your sig, even though it will work if it's already there? That's very lame. I guess it's been theoretically addressed by always putting in a bar over the sig.

Also, it looks like you can't do an AND search on keywords. It appears that the default is OR, which means that if you put in two words, you get four pages of of postings from the past two days.

Can't the search function default to AND mode, like Google?

There aren't many options given to Admin over searches.

I can't for the life of me find where you can fiddle with signature settings. sdp obviously found it.

If a lot of the UBB stuff is disabled in signatures, it kind of doesn't matter that the limit is not very long.

All those things you listed, there is nothing we can do about. The only thing I can do is increase the signature size.

When you put up a post, you get relative time for an hour, instead of clock time. That is really confusing. It's cool than computers can do math, but it's not my favorite innovation.

Thanks you guys. \:\) Alls I had to do was put in my gender then it let me change it.

And the sentence fragment was: "Genderis is a required field" not gender, I had not a clue what genderis ment, didn't make any since to me at all.

All is good now. \:\) I have a new picture/avatar. \:\)
