Okay, I'm a 21 year old female on birth control, I don't smoke, and I'm not pregnant.

I've been having some very unusual spotting, but I wasn't extremely worried about it because I know that that can happen with birth control. However, yesterday I noticed that on the back of my left leg (and knee) the veins were extremely prominent and green and yucky in comparison to my right leg, in which you can't even see the veins except upon very close examination. Together with this there is a localized aching/sharp pain at times right where the veins are showing up extraordinarily much. I know this is a new development because I put lotion on every day and I would have noticed it. So I called my province's nurseline and they said to go to a walk-in clinic, which I did, but the doctor said it was nothing, so I went home and tried to forget about it. However, this morning the aching is more severe and persists and the veins still look the same. I'm going to phone my family doctor and get an appointment but I'm afraid of being blown off again and not taken seriously. I've also been dizzy for the last couple of days and it hurts to walk. I'm afraid it might be a blood clot or something like that?

Basically, thanks for listening and does anyone have any personal experience or advice?

Thanks :-)

A blood clot (i.e. a thrombosis) is what I was thinking too.

Well I went to the doctor at my university and he was better and said it was probably a small thrombosis/blood clot, but he said there wasn't anything to be done and he couldn't assure me that the yucky vein-popping-out would go away with time. I'm just going to try ignoring it.
