this question is for my 3yr - she occasionaly gets bright colored stools- I have mentioned it to the DR before and she said it was due to the food she is eating- she does eat fruit snacks and bright colored items occasionally- Is this something to seek further advice about- the discoloration bothers me and I have heard Autism has been linked to this- which she also seems to have a few of those traits ( short attention span, very hyperactive) they also float alot?
Thank you

floating is due to the diet. High in nitrogen. the color's I'd link to dyes. I once died my little brother's milk blue when he was a baby. Pooped teal for days!

Green stools can sometimes occur naturally, but blue would have to be eating something dyed blue - and probably quite a lot.

Floating stools are usually just due to gas trapped inside, which is no problem. If there's no gas inside but they still float then it indicates fat isn't being properly absorbed, but this is much rarer.

Vegetables high in green chlorophyll and juices with blue or green dye can easily cause that. It should not be something to be concerned about. I have had 2 babies and seen it all.
