My girlfriend has scoliosis...

Well, long story short, my girlfriend has dextroscoliosis. Meaning, her spine curves (massively) towards the right side of her body. Along with the dextroscoliosis, she has a rip hump as well. She's in constant pain, people pick on her because of it (fucking assholes), and I don't know what I can really do for her... I know I can't do anything about the scoliosis, but I feel bad when she's in pain or people talk shit about her cause of it. What kind of person calls someone with scoliosis hunch-backed and shit like that... I mean honestly how rude can people really be?
I love her very much, I just hate that I can't do anything to help her...
I know there's no real way to do anything about her scoliosis without invasive surgery, but is there anything she can do to reduce the pain?
Also, on an unrelated subject, she's had small cramps weeks after her period was over, and I want to know if there is anything she should be worried about... No, she's not pregnant, unless she cheated on me, which I know she didn't.

People can be meaner than you'll ever imagine.

There's a lot you can do to help her: Be there for her. Support her through this time (no matter how long it takes). It does make a LOT of difference, trust me.

I am always there for her, but she keeps telling me she doesn't want to burden anybody else with her problems... I keep telling her that I'm here for her, but she's always trying to deny any help or care anybody tries to give...
She doesn't even want to talk to her parents about it since she doesn't want to make her mom think she's not caring for her enough...
She seems to think she's a burden on her family, and I keep trying to tell her there's no way they see her like that.

Maybe she's depressed about her situation?

She probably is, but I'd say more pissed off that she can't do anything about it... That, and she's in constant pain...
Would a doctor prescribe her anything for the pain?

Does she have any plans for the future on getting the corrective surgery?
When I was in highschool I had a friend who had scoliosis and he had to wait until he was 15 or 16 to have the surgery where they place a rod down the spinal column to straighten out the spine. After the surgery he said there was a huge decrease in pain.
Just curious.

My baby sister has scoliosis, fairly bad, but not crippling.
She does exercise to strengthen the "long" side of her body, to help pull her spine upright. She is still crooked, but it helps with the pain. She also seems to have encinophiliacs,(it's an intestinal issue...) so she doesn't always do her exercise and we can really tell.
Maybe see what physical therapy might be able to do for her, and as far as the mean people go, just love her. Be her shelter from all of it.

Future plans I'm not sure about, but I hope she decides to.
As for the exercises, what exactly does she do? She doesn't exactly have the money for physical therapy.

If you have the patience, while I find out from my sister, I can share with you what she is up to.
I know she has a back sling, but that is more for the stretching, I think an exercise ball would work in its place, and is alot cheaper...
HELMS!!!
lol, it is a one sided work out. Any Ideas?

Along with the dextroscoliosis, she has a rip hump as well. She's in constant pain, people pick on her because of it (fucking assholes), and I don't know what I can really do for her...
You, as her boyfriend, can do more than you think.
For example, I used to have slight scoliosis (not as severe, but ... yaknow, it was a pain in the neck =P No pun intended, actually ...) and it never hurt, persay, but when it sort of did?, my mom would give me Advil. I don't know if that would help your girlfriend, because I don't know truly what you can and cannot take for it, but I'd suggest it to her to ask her doctor about.
Also, just be there for her. Stick up for her. Those idiots are complete jerks. I go to school with people like them; it's either stick up for yourself or ignore them. One of my best friends is a little overweight. They're incredibly rude to her; "Look at how her feet are bulging out of her shoes," "Look at how big she is," "She shouldn't be eating that," "I'd hate to have that sit on me." All those are things I hear them saying about her. It makes me sick. So I stick up for her.
Actions are just as powerful as words; are you the big and bulky type? or the small guy? Either way, they'll leave her alone when they realize she ISN'T alone in this battle. It's less intimidating picking on one, than a group. Once you show them you're there for her, they'll comment, yeah, but they'll also back off.
Also, on an unrelated subject, she's had small cramps weeks after her period was over, and I want to know if there is anything she should be worried about...
Psh, she probably ate something that didn't settle with her, is lactose intolerant, wasn't feeling good, was tired, was hungry, wasn't drinking enough, if it was four weeks after, *gasp* =P, she was probably on it again. Multiple reasons.
*sigh* If only every guy in the world was as good a boyfriend as you are.
Dannggg.
Hahaha. Good luck! Kat
