I'm 6'2" tall in height, and I currently weigh about 210 lbs. In July 2006 I weighed 265 lbs, then I went on an intense exercise plan and ate less portioned meals. In April 2007, my weight dropped to 210, where I'm currently right now. I would like to lose some weight.

So I was wondering, what should my ideal weight be for my height?

Ethnicity plays a huge role. An Innuit (eskimo for the less educated) has a different body type than an anglo, and a Yanomamo Indian has a different body type than a black. So, since you live in America, you'll find that the "ideal" weight only pertains to whites. You're half black, arent you? I wouldn't even worry about it. I'm black, indian and white, and according to those charts I'm obese. Muscle weighs more than fat. Just remember that (Hey, that rhymes).

I'm 5'5, 200 lbs, but no one thinks I'm fat. I do, but no one that meets me does, because I'm very muscular, especially for never having lifted weights.

Hmm weird...

According to the chart it says I should be between 185-202lbs. Seems very high to me. I just don't see 202 lbs fitting well on my frame. Hmmm...

Ideal weight range is 166 - 182.6 lbs. (75.5 - 83 kg.).
You are overweight by 47.4 lbs. (22 kg.).
You may wish to consult with your physician for medical help

Sounds like you're both on the chunky side.

I like how the two sites are different by roughly 20 pounds for me, and that's when I use the small frame on the first and the medium on the second.

But one site was for women and one for men. The charts are completely different.

Yeah I get different results too.. it's all ballpark though.

Maybe this BMI index from the CDC is more accurate.

The Body Mass Index is the most effective method, at least its what we used at Uni, although none are completely accurate. Going by any of these scales all body builders would be morbidly obese.

:P I picked Medium frame thank you hehe ;\)

My Personal Trainer actually hates the BMI scale, she doesn't feel its accurate. She prefers using body fat percentage.

BMI and body fat percentages are completely different things. One is an estimate of what one should weigh based on their height, the other requires actually measuring the individual and often (depending on the method used) has nothing do to with height.

I know this, and I stated my PT dislikes BMI, period. She doesn't feel it’s an accurate way of determining if a person is obese. She's as fit as can be, but according to BMI she's obese (and trust me she’s not obese, she has one kickass body!). But when using body fat percentage she’s in prime fitness for her weight and height.

Well now, we can just take those charts and burn em. I could never live my life according to a chart.

I was referring to the site at the top and the site for men posted later.

Those BMI things and ideal body weights aren't all that accurate, as I've been told by doctors themselves.

according to the BMI think I was near obese when actually as skinny as my 135 pound brother who is 6'2 like me. Due to my frame and muscle size.

6-2 & 135? is anorexic or something?

Of course they aren't accurate.. They are ballpark figure for average body types.

He's not anorexic I don't think just something with his metabolism or something. it's genetic he'll probably be over weight in his 30s
