So, I am officially pregnant, my fellas home for the next 14 months, and I'm a happy bird. However, since so many ladies and fellas on here are parents, I would like as much advice and help as I can get for while being pregnant, and when the little monster is a baby and toddler.

Thank you guys!

Nothing can really prepare you. \:\)

When you have a baby or toddler, it's hard to get out much. So do so as much as you can before the birth. If there are any major tasks to be done, do them early - after the birth you're going to be very tired for quite a long time.

I interviewed this local woman, who wrote a best-seller called The Mommy Chronicles.

Here's why she and her best friend wrote it.

Congratulations!! \:\) And I am glad your hubby is able to be there with you. I know you were concerned about that.

My best advice to you while you are pregnant, is to take the time to enjoy being pregnant....after all the morning sickness crap of course. When that baby starts to move, it is the single most wonderful feeling in the world!

After the baby is born, you will find that newborns are so much easier to take care of....wherever you put them, that's where they stay. Come back for advice when the baby starts walking. lol

Seriously though, you will do fine. It's all feeding, sleeping, diapers over and over again. And listen to your mom or grandma. They know better than any doctor.

So glad to hear that he is going to be home!

Lish is right, get as much advice as you can from your mom and grandma, everyone here has different values, and I bet theirs are close to yours!

Good luck with it all, and enjoy the pregnancy, it is a wonderful experience that many of us moms really miss when it is gone.

You should be taking suplements especially something with Folic Acid at this time. If you're not, talk to your doctor.

Congrats! From going through my sisters pregnancy with her I learned to try to keep stress level at the lowest possible. Don't push yourself to do things, rest.

Plus having the fella around is a plus. Espescially When you get a craving for a hot fudge sunday @ 2am!

Once again, congrats!

Wow someone is going to topple over from being front heavy! I say congrats and good luck. One thing I have seen from sisters and friends is to just stay calm. Losing your cool can be your undoing so stay calm and you will do fantastic.

yeah it is going to swell but you are active so you should be fine. Are you going to stay in Alaska or what are you going to do?

I.... honestly don't know, this place is... beautiful, but the people are not quite what i want to raise a baby around. My options are open at the moment. Maybe move more south, where its a little warmer and closer to the ocean.

On Question really fast, sorry for the Double Post:

How does caffein intake affect pregnancy, like one or two cups in the morning? Different in later stages of pregnancy?

I asked my doc, she said no real *official* tests have been done, but i was wondering if someone has heard different, or personal experiances?

Well, most Ob/Gyn's will tell you to stay away from caffeine. Why exactly, I'm not really totally 100% sure but from what I know caffein effects your baby the same way it effects you because whatever you put in your body crosses the placenta with the only exception being insulin (if you're diabetic). And the way it effects us is through altering our mood and increasing our heart rate, etc. So it's going to do the same for your baby. And fetal heart rate is something I've seen doctor's get really uptight about.

High caffeine intake has also been known to cause early miscarriages. But most doctor's will tell you that one to two cups (6-8 ounces) of your favorite caffinated drink will be all right. \:\)

Well, there has been plenty of *official* studies....it's just that the studies are conflicting. Some talk about miscarriages while others mention the caffeine withdrawl after the baby is born (which I believe is a pretty accurate study.....but all the babies end up being 'normal').

Anyway, I think most docs agree that minimal caffeine is fine. 1-2 cups a day like Cenfath said.
