Okay, so in a couple of months or so, I MAY be getting circumcised. It's because I can't retract my foreskin when erect (phimosis). Yes, I already know about stretching, steroid cream, blah blah blah. I'm working on it hard every day, trust me. I don't need any information on that.
What I want to know is how bad are the side effects of circumcision?
After reading this, I'm petrified.
I know you can lose sensitivity, that's fine with me, but I didn't think it would be THAT bad... Will I still be able to enjoy sex? Is the loss of sensitivity that damn bad? I've read some scaaary stories on line.. Even though it's not certain that I'll be getting cut, I'd just like to know.
GAH HELP ME
By the way, I'm 15, 5'7" if that makes any difference.

There are always exceptions but if it were that bad, half of the American men would feel nothing...
If you have bad phimosis you're better off getting cut.

Well buddy. I'm circumcised, and I have no problems.
Don't listen to that site. It's a group of people who have nothing better to do than make people think they're right.
I'm circumcised and I can tell you, things are still unimaginably great every time.
I can't say anything to prove it, however, I can tell you from personal experience, Everything will work perfectly, and that those stories are over-dramatized lies.

I didn't read much of it, but you don't know if they are lies or not. There are serious problems that happen to people that get dramatized, but you can't say they are lies.

Understandable, but I could take 150 horror stories and put them all together and say "don't do this" just to scare people to, but that doesn't make it ok.
It's highly inaccurate what they're doing, to place just negative accounts together, without an adequate representation of the reality that that almost never happens.

Well that's what that section of the web site is about. There's a lot more to the site than just negative comments.
The site is anti-circumcision though, so it's to be expected.

well you being 15 I'd say your chances for having any non-surgical side effects won't be noticeable most likely for years.
By then your penis head will have keratinized(sp?) some, THEN you may notice a difference.
This is not an attempt to scare you out of your decision btw.

I got circumcised for phimosis when I was 18 and I have not experienced any of the negatives that these anti-circumcision guys talk about. you link is for NORM which is a groups that's not only against circumcision but thinks you should stretch the skin on you penis with lead weights to make a new fake foreskin.
The 2 big things about getting circumcised that take getting used to are getting used to having your glans exposed all the time and finding a new way to masturbate. sex, oral or vaginal is awesome when your circumcised so I wouldn't worry about that,
If you decide to get cut make sure the doctor you see had done lots and lots of circumcisions. It's minor surgery in the skill needed so any doctor or urologist can do it but it's best to have someone who is very experienced.

Just to clarify, It's awesome when intact too. But if you have phimosis or other problems then it's probably best to get circumcised if the problems can't be remedied.

I think what he means by that is we feel more things because it is not 'covered' or 'protected'. It sways in your shorts and rubs against fabric causing you to feel more things. As far as sexual sensitivity goes, I've heard almost unanimously that you lose some sensitivity. I'm circumcised and I know I definitely can get off wonderfully, lol, but I have no idea how much more an uncut guy could because I was cut right after I was born.

Let the guy make his own decision; as for me, I was cut at 6 years of age and remember the pain and trama. In 1993 I started stretching under the guidance of a doctor and he did minor surgery in 2006 and now I have a fully functional foresking and am very happy. As in all surgery, minor or otherwise - should seek and obtain a second opinion - even a partial circ to correct the problem. Again, make your own decision and find a good doctor and not a butcher!

I personally find sex great being circumsized. There is a loss of sensitivity but it means i can last about an hour and still not ejaculate at times. Still, it's all great down below

Actually circumcision can be one of the worst things that can be done to a man. When your young it feels good and may enhance the feel some because the skin is tight on the shaft. The loss of sensitivity doesn't really start showing up until you are in your forty's. By the time your in your fifty's alot of guys can barely feel anything, so getting aroused enough to get an erection is difficult and awful hard to get enough sensation to keep an erection long enough to have an orgasm. So I think the only thing it is good for is shorting a man's sex life. Why else do you think they sell the hell out of viagra. So with that in mind. My sugestion would be if you do have to get cut have as little cut as possible. Just have the doctor cut only the offending part, the overhang, and leave most of the head still covered when soft. That should give you the best of both. If this doctor doesn't want to do it that way find someone else.
Good Luck

Good suggestion... I would have to agree... I started to loose some of that sensitivity and chose to stretch the little bit of my foreskin back over the head. it was a long process. I stretched it for about 10 months everyday. The foreskin compeletly covers the head with a little over hang when I'm soft and about 90 percent when I fully erect.
I wish my parents never had it cut off to begin with!

Eurgh, I hope you're wrong, baldgeezer, because my parents are talking about arranging the circumcision pretty soon (I'm 16 in two months now, by the way). I just hope it goes well. Actually, I'm worried about the physical pain of it too now. If I must have things being cut off my penis, I'd much rather it be done under general anaesthesia, that's for sure.

Don't worry. I was in a similar position to you and you're better off having it done now, especially if you describe your phimosis as being bad.
I was 17 when I had mine done (in the UK, like you! on the NHS, too) and it was done under general anaesthetic. Afterwards, they gave me plenty of pain medication and told me how to go about the next few weeks until it healed. I barely felt any pain, just a little discomfort (I was on pretty strong drugs, mind!) and stopped using the pain killers after about a week. My stitches fell out after about 6 weeks.
I've had no complications from it and, because of my phimosis, I am much better off.
Don't worry about it!
