That's a curious point, Ineligible. When I go back to my high school (and here in Europe I guess we hate that place a little less than Americans seem to :P) I usually walk around and look at the picture boards (whatever you call them, I don't have a translation ready -- it's a big something with face pictures of a class that finished together, and all their teachers) and it seems to me that earlier classes look much more mature than more current ones. And the school system hasn't changed in the last almost 60 years (at least not so that it would have affected my high school), so they all were around 18 years old at the time the pictures were made.

I remember a group of us in the early 1970s looking at class photos and marvelling how classes of twenty years before looked so much older than we did in our photos. I think it may have been partly an effect of the unfamiliar looking older than the familiar, and partly due to different hairstyles.
