inguinal hernia questions

I have had an inguinal hernia for a good 3 years or so and it has gotten a little bit larger with time. I am terrified to have surgery/go to the doctor 1. Because its been sooo long and 2. Because im terrified of knives/shots/needles and the thought of surgery.
Anyway it doesn't cause me any uncomfort unless it doesn't "drop" down into my scrotum. When I wake up in the morning its always back up "into me" but when I get up if it doesn't drop down right away I get a terrible upset stomach feeling.. its not quite like pain its just very uncomfortable and causes me to want to slouch over.
So, my question is if I get it repaired will I feel this uncomfortable feeling always because it will be "up inside of me where it belongs?" as this is the only time i feel this.. When it drops down im fine..

You mean to say that you feel OK if it's sticking out into your scrotum, but feel sick if it's up in your abdomen? That seems quite odd.
