okay, i have my first gyno appt. in about two weeks, and i am SO nervous. i mean the thought of a stranger looking at me, freaks me out. i know all women have to go through it, but still.. anyone have any helpful advice, i would GREATLY appreciate it!

The number one rule is to relax! Take a deep breath and try to relax as possible because it'll be more uncomfortable if you don't. Trust me though, it's not THAT bad. If it will help ease your mind, bring someone with you.
It's not painful at all, if that's what you're most worried about. The most, it will feel weird and a bit uncomfortable. When they gently open up your vagina (I forget the name of the device), it shouldn't hurt and it's not going to be wide enough to "stretch" you out, despite stupid rumors. Once you're ready, they'll use a swab to collect your sample from your cervix. This is going to feel weird, like someone's poking you. But again, it shouldn't hurt and it's only for a few seconds.
And don't worry about someone looking at you down there. Gynecologist have seen many before you and will continue to see many more after. I understand it's a bit embarrassing but remember, it's about your health, so there's no reason to feel any shame.
So yeah, the most important advice I can think of is to relax. It's going to be over quicker than you know it. Best of luck!

Well, having been raised around the medical industry, I can say this. The thing is, it isn't some random stranger looking at you, and they aren't doing it just to make you nervous. They are trained professionals. And by professional, I mean 8 years of school as well as a long internship and maybe even a residency.
This Doctor is there to help make sure you stay healthy. You should feel very relaxed about it. They know what they're doing and they are doing it to help you out. I'd say you shoudl even thank them for the service. :P

Rain.....your a nice guy and all, but there is nothing relaxing about having your kitty stretched farther than you would ever want it to be and then having a giant Q-Tip shoved in there. And I have had plenty of doctors who were not so gentle in that area.

the man im going too delivered my two brothers and sisters, just not me because i was born early and he was out of town.. haha but my mom , grandmother, aunt and numerous other people i know go to him, which is why i am because my mom really trusts him.. i am just the most nervous with a man i dont even know looking at my naked butt.. hahah its just awkward, i duno how to get over it!

Its not going to be as bad as you think. Really I think the questions are worce than the other parts.
This is dumb but my sister said she asked the doctor for a drink first. i dont think she really did but it was kinda funny.

haha! i dont blame her.. the only thing that is goin to bother me and the only thing i keep getting nervous about, is an absolute stranger, MAN.. looking at my vagina.. haha feeling absolutely violated!
