pregnancy after abortion.....

ill try and make a long story short but here it goes...
march my girlfriend and i had an abortion. we recently had sex about two weeks go around the 9-11th of this month. well that following wed. she got on birth control and was put on the nuva ring (i think thats how u spell it) anways... she was put on it on the 14th. and ever since that next day, my gf has been feeling nausious. we had sex again a few days later (just once).
anways...since then shes been feeling really queezy and nausious. the part that makes us think were pregnant again is that her breasts have been feeling really tender. we took a pregnancy test just yesterday. (her last period was on the 9/10th). we used the first response and one line was really dark, BUT there was a really..really REALLY faded second line.
we're really scared and dont know what to think...does this sound like shes pregnant?

on a side note we tried researching it and found out that the pregnancy hormone used to detect pregnancy could still be in her, even after an abortion...which just adds to the quarell.

If I read your post correctly, it sounds as if you had sex at the time of her last period. If that is correct, I highly doubt that she was fertile and is thus pregnant. Perhaps her symptoms are caused by the NuvaRing.
I applaud you for seeking contraception after the abortion, but why did you have unprotected sex before she started it? Were you unable to use another method, e.g. condoms?

I'm afraid I know nothing about the after affects of abortion. But I'll take on this...

How many days after exactly did you have sex with the ring? And did you use a condom? I'm on the ring myself and like all birth control, you're supposed to wait a full week after inserting it to have sex without a condom. Birth control doesn't have it's full effect until after a week's time.
So, I don't know about her symptoms. Perhaps it is the birth control, but maybe you should take another test.

why did you have unprotected sex before she started it?
to be blunt, she didnt want to get on birth control before becuase of all the side effects that come with it.
How many days after exactly did you have sex with the ring? And did you use a condom?
she started the ring on wed. may 14, we had intercourse that friday..the 16th =/. and no, we did not use a condom. i'll be the first to admit that were ignorant for not using condoms, we resentfuly use pleasure over pain. it feels completely different without a condom, and i guess thats why were always reluctant to use one.

Well, honey, I know that condoms desensitize the feeling, but you don't want to go through another abortion, do you? Come on, start using your brain, not your penis when it comes to thinking rationally.

Again and again...Condoms are the best, but why won't anyone use spermicides? They are very good at preventing pregnancy if your going to insist on NOT using a condom.
And this is SO mean, but Frank is in town: Isn't an abortion a HUGE side effect!? WTF? I would think 3 seconds to put on a condom, or use a spermicide, is a MUCH easier "side effect" to deal with...

well we went to planned parenthood and took a pregnancy test there and the results were negative. something we found out was that after an abortion there are still pregnancy hormones that remain even after an abortion. those hormones can remain in the body from 6 weeks to a year. so someone could very well take a pregnancy test, turn positive, but at the same time really not be pregnant.
all in all this is info that might be beneficial to anyone else, i hope :).
but anywho, that just means even though the results came back negative, we're still not out of the woods yet and we're testing again in a week.

Of course sillies! It takes a few weeks to build enough of the hormone to tell if your prego in the first place, and it takes a few weeks for all the hormones to leave.
I haven't seen any therapy for hormones that was instant. (insuline I suppose is pretty dang fast!) Hurumph...speaking of which, I better go take my thyroid pill...I can miss about 2 weeks before I realize why I feel like crap.

I don't take it while I am on my period (It makes it go better don't know why) but then I forget to start taking it again..
It isn't like BC where there is a sugar pill to take during the "off days"..
