I joined about 4 weeks ago. So far Ive lost about 10 lbs.. I gained 3.7 after the long weekend of camping/drinking/concerts/buffets.. OOPS!
I weighed myself at home and since last thursday I've lost about 4 lbs! Yay!
Anyways.. point of the post.
Does anybody have any good recipes or tips from weight watchers that theyve done??

I know that if you buy the weight watchers foods and stuff like the breads and frozen dinners it more effective and you see resulkts faster. My sister lost a lot of weight on weight watchers after she had her kids. Try everyday to walk a bit to that extra exercise will go along way

What are you? A sales rep for Weight Watchers?
Honestly, just eat fresh, healthy food, it's far cheaper and better for you. If you insist on eating weight watchers brand just look closely at the nutrition panel, I bet it contains the same stuff most other brands do in that section, only difference it they don't come with a badge.

actually the weight watchers brand is fantastic. I wish we had the stuff the US has here in canada. They have icecream and other goods for low points!!
Weight watchers breads are 2 slices for 2 points .. whereas 2 normal slice of whole wheat bread are 4.
Can you believe A big mac is 27 points!!!
I get 29 points in a day!

I guess my biggest issue with buying their products is that someone trying to lose weight, and maintain it, requires a lifestyle change. Learning to eat healthy with regular food and their plan seems to be a better ticket.
Everyone I know who has used those diets gains weight back once they stop, with the exception of my grandmother this last time. She ONLY uses their mayonnaise and has a snack packet or 2 in her car. Since she quit going she has maintained her weight for about 2 years now. She is considering going back to drop a few more, and see if she can learn something new.

I guess, my point was that the people I knew who would buy the premade meals, snacks and drinks, got dependent on THAT part, when you work it out with out those things, you have better success.

I agree. It can also be very expensive.
I wouldn't say Im dependent on them..personally. I think they're nice to have. It's nice to be able to eat a treat like chocolate cake for 4 points instead of chocolate cake for 12 points. I honestly can't even remember the last time i had a WW product. We usually only keep the bread/wraps/english muffins in the house.

You sign up and you pay for it. You go to meetings with people who are in the same boat as you and offer you advice, tips. My favorite part is discussing recipes and learning what you CAN eat as a treat that isnt high in points!
You can also do it online.

This is so depressing. Weight Watcher's points? You may as well count calories (or better yet, kilojoules), its far more effective, and an official scientific value.

I'm with ^^^ this guy.
I find it so funny that as long as people have been living on this earth, it was only recently that all these "fad" diets came into being. It's so sad how much money is wasted on these things. Counting points, zero-carb blah blah, cookie diets, LA drinks...so much bullshit.
The best thing one can do is eat things that are fresh, and balanced. Eating often --every 2-3 hours -- and for the love of God, get off the couch and do some exercise. You do realize that muscles burn calories like nothing else...
"But--but...I don't have time..." Seriously, you can do a 15 minute High Interval Training program every other day and lose extreme amounts of weight.
Two girls I know went in together and got some stupid "cookie diet" for 150.00 a piece. It came with apparently, GOD awful cookies, and only "teaches" you to eat every 2-3 hours. Hell, that can be learned without eating cookies and spending 150.
lol ok, end rant...these stupid diets/lifestyle changes just irk me to no end. Like it takes some special program to lose weight, that can only be had by eating labeled stuff purchased only through said label maker.

All I am saying is why go through the process of learning their system which only applies to their food? When you could learn one that applies to all food, including theirs.
You're only going to setting yourself up for a fall later.

Apparently, Weight Watchers has a system of "points".. as opposed to counting your caloric intake and burning of calories. He is saying the "point" system only applies for "their" foods.

From the Weight watchers website: Weitht Watchers How the POINTS system works Every food has a POINTS value, which is calculated based on a food’s calories, fat and fiber. POINTS values help you keep track of what you eat, so that you stay within a daily POINTS Target that’s personalized for you, based on your height, weight and other factors, such as gender.
It is a bit like counting calories, but it seems to take other things into consideration. I didn't see anything that said you have to eat THEIR food. Mostly it is paying for the support to learn how to live more healthy.
The people I know who failed, did use only their food to lose weight, and never learned how to choose regular healthy food off the grocery store shelves.

Explain this point system to me, I'm curious.
In front of me I have a Chicken Bacon Deluxe burger from McDonalds, the nutritional value is;
Energy; 2290kJ, or 546 calories. Protein; 31.7g Fat (total); 27.2g - saturated; 7.9g Carbs; 42.6g - sugars; 4.8g Sodium; 1410mg
That's what all labels must show, the fact they haven't chosen to show fiber probably means there is very little of it. How many points would the be worth, and how do you calculate it?

When you sign up to weight watchers.. they give u this "points finder" its kinda like a slide.
You use the dietary fiber grams.. which isnt listed here but is usually listed. Normally it has about 3 or 4
Then you take the calories.. 546
and then you take the total fat.. 27.2
You slide everything into place and it equals out to about 14 points.

So it doesn't account for sugars/saturated fat?
Because not all fat is bad for you, mono/poly unsat fat isn't bad. But the sugars are what you mainly want to avoid...if I understand nutrition correctly lol

Yup watching sugars is very important since sugars usually turn into fat.

Well, I just found it, it's a hand me down from Grams, it looks like it was 1994, how much do you think the program has changed? With the discoveries of what you need to stay healthy, I bet a bit has, but some of the recipes will be good...
