If I remember right, it's effectiveness grows exponentially stronger through out the first month until it reaches it maximum effectiveness after the first cycle. It shouldn't be relied on at all the first month. I would also imagine the specifics very between the actual makes of drugs.
That's what I seem to remember anyway.
If in doubt your girl should ask her doctor or you might ask a pharmacist, if you know what pill she's taking.

I have a similar question: If you miss taking your pill by a few hours then doesn't it become ineffective for like a month?? Or should you just be careful for about a week or so?
