Can anal infect the urethra?

Hello, new to the site but also have been looking for this answer everywhere. Can feces enter the male urethra and infect any region? I am always afraid when I have anal sex with my girlfriend, since sometimes I encounter some feces. But as of now I wash up and urinate when were done and I'm always fine. Yet it seems like eventually the feces could enter my urethra or something. What are the chances of this happening? Whats the worst that could happen if I get feces on my penis? Thank you.

Welcome to A2A, mysterio. I imagine if you urinate afterwards that would be helpful. A likely potential problem would be a urinary tract infection, but what the chances are, I don't know. However, anal sex is also a good way to transmit STDs, so a condom is strongly advisable (and should be considered essential unless you are both absolutely monogamous).

Thank you! Well we have been having intercourse for almost a year now and we took each others virginity. My girlfriend is also on the pill, which is why I don't use condoms so I'm pretty sure none of us have STDs. I don't think I can get used to wearing a condom, just because we switch to anal. In addition, I don't mind the fecal matter I just don't want it infecting me.

Edit: I would also then have to ask, does the quantity of feces increase Urinary Tract Infections. Because for example, no matter what, the anus usually has some sort of fecal matter in it unless you go all out and get an enema. But what if your on a really bad day and have anal with an anus filled with feces. I assume the % has now increased for infection?

You certainly can get urinary tract infections from anal sex. Apart from STD's which doesn't sound like a problem in your case, there are alot of normal intestinal bacteria that can cause infections.

From Wikipedia:

Among the diseases with which anal sex is associated are HIV,[28] human papilloma virus (HPV) (which can increase risk for anal cancer)[29] typhoid fever[30] and various diseases associated with the infectious nature of fecal matter or sexual intercourse in general. Among these are: amoebiasis; chlamydia; cryptosporidiosis; E. coli infections; giardiasis; gonorrhea; hepatitis A; hepatitis B; hepatitis C; herpes simplex; human papillomavirus; Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (HHV-8)[31]; lymphogranuloma venereum; pubic lice; salmonellosis; shigella; syphilis; tuberculosis.[32][33][34]

You're right to ask IMO, if in doubt... ask the question, the way I look at life; nomatter how stupid the question sounds, I'd rather ask the question and look stupid for the 10 or 20 seconds it takes me to get an answer, rather than spend my life feeling stupid for not having asked $\:\)$

Obviously, wiki IS the oracle of all $\:\)$ but I hafta add... if you've been potting the brown, you really shouldn't screw back for the pink before washing up, cuz that's a really good way of causing infections if you do that $\:\)$

And yes, only an englishman with the snooker references... I know, but hey at least I make myself smile $;\)$ heh heh
