This chart shows the "width" of breasts. measuring accross the fullest part from the under arm to the breast bone.

I'm just curious as to how accurate this chart is.

It's extremely accurate for me (36 C). Remember, the measurement across the fullest part of the breast is not just width, but also covering depth. That is why it seems so "big" (7" for a b cup etc).

It's like measure the distance to go up and down a hill. You're not just crossing the distance at the base of the hill, you have to cover the distance up the hill.

Your funny... I doubt that was the case.

I bet albeitmayself knows her size to get a proper fit and not cause some random guy asked her...

...of course if I asked her it would be a different story...right Natasha... *evil grin* ;\)

Well actually, I did, but only because I've recently been changing cup sizes and wanted to know for my own sake. I don't see what's so exciting about the idea.

But Scotty, you know I can't say no to your requests ;-)

The only reason, I assumed she "ripped" her shirt off...is that's the only time I've seen cup size measured in that fashion. Usually it's the distance around the fullest part of the bust, minus (the distance around the rib cage + 5 or 4). Refering to miss 36C here...she would gotten a rib measurement of 31 or 32 added 5 or 4 gotten 36, then had a round the breast measurement of 39. 39 - 35 = 3 and C is the third letter of the alphabet (cpt obvious).

btw C cup stands for can't complain.

How do you usually measure? I know I'm a 32dd currently but I don't think I can tell what's the "biggest" part when measuring... which I've tried but failed. But it would help me so much for finding shirts that look decent and especially for these great new sports bras they came out with that would seriously help me in soccer.

Usually I measure the way Bob described up above, and it is also accurate for me. (The around the rib cage, add 4 or 5 and then around the fullest part of the bust, find the difference, 3 inches = C cup)

The biggest part? Well, it depends how your breast falls, but usually its the horizontal line where your nipples are. I just look at myself from the side view to check that that's accurate. Check for this fullest part without a bra on, because otherwise it gets squished up.

I work in retail, and it's sad but true that it will be almost impossible for you to find a shirt off the rack that would fit you correctly (especially if it's a woven blouse). Most blouses are made for a B cup woman (blech), and even though I have a "normal" cup size, I can't button up blouses that fit me everywhere else.

I have this really good sports bra that compresses everything but in separate cups and it's dry fit and everything, it works really well for me. But it's from La Senza, do you have that store in NYC?

Oh, and PS if you're having that much trouble finding the right size you should go for a professional bra fitting at Victoria's Secret or a similar boutique.

I've found the measurements extremely accurate. Though me and the gf have taken up measuring each breast individually and comparing it to a chart.

32" band: 6" = A cup; 6 1/2" = Full A
32" band: 7" = B cup; 7 1/2" = Full B
32" band: 8" = C cup; 8 1/2" = Full C
32" band: 9" = D cup; 9 1/2" = Full D

34" band: 6 1/2" = A cup; 7" = Full A
34" band: 7 1/2" = B cup; 8" = Full B
34" band: 8 1/2" = C cup; 9" = Full C
34" band: 9 1/2" = D cup; 10" = Full D

36" band: 7" = A cup; 7 1/2" = Full A
36" band: 8" = B cup; 8 1/2" = Full B
36" band: 9" = C cup; 9 1/2" = Full C
36" band: 10" = D cup; 10 1/2" = Full D

38" band: 9 1/2" = C cup
38" band: 10 1/2" = D cup

We've personally found closer results using the above than the more traditional method. But other people I've talked to like the regular reliable method. Whatever works for you but I always tell people to try both to see if you get different answers \:\) For us both methods were pretty much identical except for when she was smaller busted. Then the above method worked better.
