Well, I started growing my hair out 2 years ago, and it's now 2 or 3 inches past my shoulder.
When I would get out of the shower I'll brush it and then dry it, and then every so often comb it, like from when coming from outside.
About a month ago it started looking almost frizzy and dry after drying it, and staying that way all day. My sister said it's probably due to damaging from the brushing. Is there a way to fix this, besides cutting it?

If you dry it with a hair-dryer, that can make it frizzy.
You can get split ends if it hasn't been cut for a long time, which can make the ends a bit frizzy. I get my hair cut about once a year and get a lot of split ends.

I get the same thing. When I let my hair dry naturally, it's quite wavy, but if I blow dry it, it can be a bit frizzy. What I find is, if I wash it, blow dry it then straighten it (with a hair straightener) it comes out very silky...and straight.

I often follow these few tips when my hair get frizzy
1-Use a moisturizing conditioner during shower and then use some leave-in conditioner or serum (based on your hair type or go for one thats for dry or damaged hair). This also gives good shine to hair and helps in detangling the hair as well.
2-If its too frizzy apply a mixture of cider vinegar or lemon juice and warm olive oil (1tbsp each) and apply it to the hair and wash off after 15-30 min. Once in a week is enough.
3-Dry hair on cooler setting and avoid hot air as it damages the hair.
4-Never brush hair when they are wet as its very damaging cos hair are very fragile when wet.......brush or comb only when they are dry.
5-Trim your hair (about 1/4 inch) every 4 months to avoid split ends.

Heya i used to have the same problem but i did find getting my hair trimmed regularly really cleared this problem. Using shampoos and conditioners which are for dry/damaged hair also really brought my hair back to life, it's probably best to get a wide-toothed comb if you really want to go over your hair after a bath/shower as brushing it can make it very frizzy.
Hoope this works
