My doctor has heard of this but says there is nothing that can be done but I know there has to be something. When I am constipated or I am going to be going within the next few hours (basically there is a lot of crap built up at the end of the line ready to leave), I become depressed. It usually takes anywhere from 4-9 hours after I start feeling like I will need to crap before it actually happens so that's a lot of lost time being depressed plus there is about another hour after that before I become undepressed. I am also very tired after I go and I can't wake up again until I have taken a nap or gotten a full night's sleep. I eat healthy, crap once a day (sometimes more) and there is no explanation for this. It feels like the pressure down there has something to do with it but I can't figure out how. Does anyone know anything about this? All I can find on the internet is feminine constipation topics.

I think a balanced and healthy diet with exercise is best for this. Avoid alcohol.

Upon searching I found this:

----Why constipation makes us feel depressed

While constipation in and of itself does not cause clinical depression, it can cause someone to feel depressed. The reason is because of the chemicals in the brain. Constipation prohibits food nutrients from being absorbed by the body. These nutrients are needed for the brain to produce the right amount of serotonin and norepinephrine. When constipated for a long period, the lining of the small intestine can actually build up a layer of toxins that fully prevent any nutrients from being absorbed. Toxins that are normally expelled by the body through bowel movements now have nowhere to go but to be re-absorbed by the body, making matters even worse.

While not denying the effect, I don't believe that explanation. Constipation doesn't prevent the absorption of nutrients or cause absorption of toxins, despite what the sellers of laxatives and colonic irrigation say. And yet colonic irrigation does make people feel better.

Is there some way to cause an almost instantaneous bowel movement? If I start to feel "full" and depressed, is there a way to make my body go and get it out?

Some laxatives do help. Ask a doc for it he may help you out to choose one.

There is always the old standby, the Enema. I don't know anything about them other than hospitals will sometimes give them before surgery.

I don't know why but it seems I've heard you shouldn't use them all the time less you become reliant on them but I don't know if there's any truth to that.

By the way I didn't read but the last couple of posts.....

Have you tried taking Metamucil? The Berry flavor is actually quite good \:\)

*Smiles* I forgot about that shit. Granny lived by it and thought it was the cure for any ailment. She went with the hard unflavored stuff, though.

From the time I was a kid.... "You don't feel well? Have your bowls moved? Here, take some Metamucil it'll help clean out your system." "Ear ache? Have your bowls moved, take some Metamucil..."

Old people, ya gotta love 'em.

LoL.. that's actually kinda cute \:\)

Metamucil has been the only thing that I have found that works for my IBS. I've been taking it twice a day for about 1.5 years now (I think?) and things have improved... still not perfect, but at least much more tolerable now.

I would think (based on my knowledge from movies)
that you being gay would lead to never being constipated.
Ever see Zack and Miri make a porno?
First the girl says that anal sex is great for constipation and later on "Frosts him like a cake"

From my knowledge, based on slang and derogatory terms, "fudge packer" would imply the exact opposite.

I just thought, seeing as your big on finger in the ass sex wouldn't you know whether or not anal does anything for constipation. It wouldn't be that different.

Unless you saw the movie, ya simply can not imagine, or understand why I keep laughing looking at this thread.
Get the movie, see the movie, newest kevin smith, minus jay and silent bob, but jay is in the movie, just not as jay.

I've got Pineapple Express. It was fairly good. His dealer friend made the movie.

I have used fiber laxatives and I continue to about once or twice a day and it really doesn't do anything to help. I also eat plenty of vegetables and fruit (usually raw). It feels like there is no muscle in my digestive tract to keep things moving. When I go to the bathroom, I can't push. People talk about just pushing one out all the time, but I can't do that- I just have to wait until there is a lot of pressure on the bowels that will push them out. A search on Google for "missing digestive muscle" comes up with this: Hirschsprung Disease. I don't like to diagnose myself with anything and I don't have the more serious symptoms that are listed on this page but it says that symptoms may not show up until later in life. Is it possible that I may have a mild case of this? I would go see a doctor but I can't afford it and the campus doctor here doesn't have any equipment to do testing for this so what should I do?

You can try dulcolax or glycerin suppositories.

I dont like enema........mainly cos I have to lie face down on my knees with my naked ass up in the air at a 90 deg angle to floor through out the process.

Its also given to cases of severe constipation when laxatives dont work and there is too much crap filled in the large intestine which could cause some serious problems.

First you have to deal with your constipation. Eat balance diet, like vegetables, pine apple, oatmeal and exercise is also a help. Try to unwind, go out with your friends to avoid depression.
