Why do I feel this way?

I'm not exactly sure why, but for the past few days I've been feeling really despondent and sad. But, I have absolutely NO reason to feel so. I'm not really 'depressed' but I just seem to have this shower of melancholy over me.
The only reason why I figure this could be, is because my new girlfriend was listening to a song that me and my old ex (whom I was with for almost 4 years) and it made me feel really nostalgic and sad. But I don't understand it, because I'm over her now (it's been about a year)

you can still be over your ex, and feel sad hearing a song or other thing that reminds you of them.
I cant listen to certain bands either, actually. I was with my ex for 4.5 years, and certain things still remind me of him, sadly. I'm over him too, but theres still the memories. with me, its mostly regret that I wasted all my teenage years with him.
Sometimes I get really sad too, and not really for any reason in particular. It's hormones, I'd say. can I ask how old you are? With me, I get moody depending on the time of the month, like, if im ovulating or something. but yeah, i hope i helped. <3

Well, maybe you do have some feelings left over for her? Maybe your conscious self is over it, but your sub-conscious isn't? you know what I mean?
I've had that happen to me too. Weeks where you just feel a cloud overhead because of something, and in this case, your same reason, because maybe you still miss your ex.
