Whether it be fat or just simply weak it's no wonder.

a adjustable weight 5-50 pounds is over 200 bucks. Even a basic standard one size 50 pound weight is like 80 bucks. weighted vests are from 50-200 bucks depending on how much weight. treadmills/bikes are 200-1000+ and same way with other tools.

I understand you can do a lot free weight, but lets face it you're probably going to see faster results with the tools. But even for little stuff you're probably going to be spending 200-400 bucks at least getting a decent exercise set of minor weights and tools.

I can buy a few hundred backs of chips for that and it's hell of a lot easier to eat chips and drink soda than exercise. That's like 150.000 calories like 40 pounds of fat that you don't have to work for for the same price as the exercise equipment and you have to work with the tools after you get it for awhile before you see any progress.

It's no damn wonder. Exercise tools shouldn't be so damn expensive imho.

You could probably get second-hand equipment for a lot less. So many guys get the equipment, use it for a couple of months, then never use it again.

Heheh, they are very expensive. Gym memberships usually are a bit cheaper, and you get access to so many more machines there. But like Pete said, the second hand weights are much less expensive. I got my benchpress new, which was ~250 on sale, and then got all the weights second hand (Not very expensive at all, some of the weights didn't even cost a dollar! I think I picked up two fives, four tens, and two twenty fives).

Of course, you could alternatively go for a jog or purchase a skipping rope if you wanted to lose weight. Or if you have a pool do some water aerobics/laps.

It just depends where you buy the stuff. I work in a sporting goods shop (Play It Again Sports) and we sell stuff new and used. Weight used is 0.59c a lb which is pretty decent, and our other used equiptment is priced pretty fair also. New stuff is pretty expensive, but its worth it if your looking at the longterm, just remember, you dont need a treadmill to run, theres plenty of exercise opportunity out there without equipment.

I bought a brand new power rack with high low cable attachments, incline/decline bench, barbell, dumbells and nearly 200kgs worth of various sized rubber coated weights for just over $1000 including delivery (which is a lot).

That's more than enough to do all the major lifts and work your entire body. "Tools" are a waste of money. If you want "tools" go join the gym.

I started working out with just a set of 10LB, 25LB dumbbells and a pull up bar. Cost me $90 total and worked extremely well. I've seen added 5's, 15's and 20's to the mix. Oh and some pushup handles. With just that I can do pretty much any workout for any muscle group.
