Me and my girlfriend have been going out for around 2 1/2 years. We are deciding to take a break because we want to move out together so we need to see if we truly want to be together. Do you think this is a good idea.

It's taking a risk, I'm sure. You might not get back together. But the fact that you're doing it suggests that there are already some doubts about the relationship.

I don't know whether anyone other than the two of you can really answer the question.

Breaks are stupid. It's basically just a break up with some reassurance that you might get back together.

Generally. It happens when there are some doubts, so then people use a "break" and generally they push each other away when they'd otherwise be fine.

I wouldn't have done it if I were you personally. A lot of times, you'll go out with someone else to "see if you truly like your partner as much as you think" You'll have a great time with them because it's something fresh and new.

Which will cause you to doubt your relationship. Possibly leading to break up, then awhile later you find out that it was just a fling because it was new, you're done with it. But the damage is already done and You've lost. Game Over: Try again?

I went on a break before and it ended terrible. We got ridiculously mad at eachother and broke up pretty quick. I haven't even talked to him since.
