The board seems a little slow.
What suggestions and changes would you suggest????
This is a random question. I don't know of any changes coming down the pike but I just thought I would just ask. They do this kind of brainstorming at work when they are looking for cutting edge idea's with clients campaigns...

I don't know that there is much we can do. The internet has changed quite a bit since this forum started. Now there are so many forums and websites, that we are just another "pea in the pod". Maybe this forum was more unique back in the day.
I did get a kick out of reading some of the old threads before there was any moderation.. it was a free for all.. Hilarious..

well i just added random i love the feeling in your I just love the feeling... thread.
I’d say maybe a new look but i doubt that will happen.
i told inliguble a few times over they last few years that i was one day going to make a post on information on male rape - people have fucked ideas of it. But i haven't and i'm not now so... i dk if i will ever anytime soon.
I have had thoughts of stopping by and letting all that gives a shit know how things are going now.
Since reading a post Roc made it’s been more on my mind. I actually came by today to do it but… I’ve been sidetracked and I’m doing what I always do - talking myself out of it. lol
When shannon and i get into some stupid little fusses she brings up how i've changed. I have. Don't know if it;s for the better tho but my life is happier.

It's all about entertainment. While SDP or whoever said it is correct, we are just another pea in the pod, there are successful and active sites that operate under the same member information sharing format as this one. The difference between the successful sites and ones like our beloved little site is, from what I've witnessed, the successful sites have a much more narrow focus. Their usually directed at adolescent males. And, most importantly, they are far more salacious.
While the last of those differences does ramp up the entertainment factor, and thus the success of the site as measured in activity, it also imparts less relevant useful information. Most importantly those sites seem to be rife with perverts and predator types. They aren't the kind of place that I would what to spend any time or feel comfortable spending any time.

After thinking about how successful sites function I do have a suggestion. If you want to increase traffic in the forum, and that's a big if - I'm not sure how much people really want that, then make AfraidtoAsks home page the Community Forum and make the information pages supportive, rather than the way it is now. Bring people straight here (the Community Forum) and make the information pages clickable banners across the top or something, I don't think there's that much easily accessible information in the information pages anyway, at least not given the way people today expect information to be immediately at hand.
I will use myself as an example, when I have car problems I always check out possibilities on the net. I do that by finding a forum and typing in a searchable term and getting my answer and if I don't find one, I ask the question. I don't find my answer by reading through stale articles about wheel bearings and what their function is and how they work. I don't care about that stuff and it would probably put me to sleep anyway. All I want to know is how loud does the roar from the wheel have to get before I need to really worry. So, that being the case if an article comes up I usually just move on without giving much if any review and certainly not looking for forum link somewhere on the page.
The way this site is set up is for the 90's and before when the only way to access information was read an article or a reference book and try to find an answer to your question their-in. In this modern age people don't do that. They are use to social networking to solve problems and find answers. So when people clilck on A2A from the Google or Yahoo search engine they're greeted with a dry information page, probably never see the community forum button and immediately leave going on to look for a more modern, quicker conveyance of information.
Ya gotta evolve with the times.
Make A2As home page the forum and the information pages supportive links and I would be willing to bet in short order you would see traffic here pick-up dramatically.

It's not a change that we can make ourselves - sdp and I have access to the controls of the forum, but not of the website itself. The doc who owns the website gets some income from his paid "Ask the Doc" section, so I'm not sure he would be happy with any change that made that link less prominent. But he might accept a home page with a strong banner at the top and the forum below.

All that page gets me is an error message after I hit send.
That being the case anyone who wishes has my permission to send my comments about what I think this site needs to do to the doc.
As far as generating revenue I think my earlier contention still applies. People are going to seek information and answers first, otherwise they wouldn't be here, they would be at their doctors office. In as much as I believe that to be true I think by and large they are going to want an interactive social networking type research experience, as I stated in my previous post. Now as we all know answer generally only lead to more technical type questions, which is where the doc comes in. If he wants to make some coin then first and foremost he needs people here and as I said, I think the information page turns them away, it's just not how we do things anymore. I hold that if people are here actively networking and searching their problems on his site and thereby coming up with more and more questions the doc will receive more hits on his "for pay" services.
Without keeping up with times you can more quickly than ever become irrelevant.
And if anybody want to forward this post to the doc please do so.

The only people who I see on a regular basis are Ineligible, Roc & SDP. Thats 3/10 members/mods who I see on here all the time while 10/10 of those members should technically be coming around here often.
Why havent they been coming around?? Maybe that's what we need to boost this place up again..

I was actually thinking about dropping a few of them because they really do nothing/contribute nothing and really don't even log in for months and months.. a couple in 1.5 years. But I'm sure I'd piss someone off if I did that. A fwe log in but don't post. Heck.. even the owner hasn't logged in since Nov. 2008... Kind of a joke...

I remember the old days. There would be alot of members on here. You could get help from anyone and it would be fast. If you need help now a days you should just ask a friend or your parents. This is sad. I'm part of the lacrosse forums because I play but there like 100 people on at a time or more. Something needs to be done. Now!
