I have some dark hairs on my chin and skip my period for months at a time. it has always been like this. i plan on getting birth control this summer (i'm 20) to possibly help things move along correctly. i got my first period when i was 12 or 13. i was wondering if the hair thing could be related to not having enough estrogen? it's dark and coarse.. i have to pluck daily because waxing doesn't work. anyone have some input to help me out?

Yes, hormones can definitely affect facial hair on girls, and even moreso if they take a hormonal method such as the pill. Since the pill can cause hair loss in some people and hair growth in others, ask your provider if he/she has any suggestions which would be best for you.

If you skipping your period for months at a time on a regular basis then you need to see a doctor.

Unless you're a teen, then it's normal.

Actually if you're a teen and you're skipping several months on a regular basis you should be seen by a doctor. Skipping a month or two every now and then is normal though for a teenager.

okay, well i havn't gone to see a gynocologist yet, but i have been doing some research. I seem to have many symptoms of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). there's more information at http://www.pcosupport.org/ This is also the leading cause of infertility and 5-10% of all woman have it. just thought i'd post on it in case anyone else has anything related. i'll let you know how it all goes in a couple months.

Yeah and I thought I had that at one point too. Chances are pretty low though. The thing with the internet is that you start believing what you read. There are so many symptoms associated with that...that if you see a few listed that you're suffering from...you think you have it. Go see a doctor. That's the only person who can diagnose a disease.
