weird growth INSIDE my mouth????

I have a weird looking growth inside my mouth. It is on my gum, above my teeth and I thought at first it was just a piece of loose skin from brushing my teeth. The nit got a little bigger and felt like a water blister. I thought it was just a blister where my cheek had rubbed on my gum since I get a little swelling in my mouth from sinuses (SP?). I looked at it for the first time and it is a reddish purple color and it definetly does not look like any other mole I have ever had. I can't get into the doctor for another 3 weeks and I'm really worried. Has anyone ever seen/heard of anything like this???? Thanks,

Turns out it is a harmless thing called a grandiola? (spelling?) He said it does need to be removed but is not cancer....
