Big pimple on shaft.

For a fair few months i have had a little white lump on the underside of my shaft, i figured it was a sebaceous gland.
The otherday when i had a shower i noticed that it had gotten really big, inflamed, reddy/purple looking and was very sore.
I dont know if its a pimple, boil or anything else.
I dont know if i should pop it or not, it looks like there is some puss in there, and it feels alot bigger under the skin.
I want to get rid of it as its embarrasing. Any sugestions?

I hope not, readytogo, that was a year ago.
It probably is a sebaceous gland, Zoo, that has now become infected to form a big zit (or a boil, which is similar but deeper). A cloth soaked in warm-hot water, applied several times a day, can help bring it to a head. If it's ready to burst you can squeeze gently to get the pus out.

Ok, well when i got up thismorning im guessing the head had come off, because it looked more like a crator.
Its about the size of half my pinkey fingernail.
I have dabbed it with seasalt water and put some detol cream on it. Hopefully it will heal soon. I just cant seem to get whats inside of it out, apart from the odd bit of blood.

Don't be rough with it, because that usually makes things worse by driving infection deeper and wider.

I've had those before, it could be an ingrown hair. I usually just pop them with a staralized needle.
