Okay I have just recently found out that my partner has given me HPV. We found a wart on him first and I guess didnt think anything of it for reason I dont know. About a month later I too have these around my vaginal opening and on the inside of me. I was wondering if I was to have unprotected sex with him again can we keep passing this back and forth to each other. A friend told me that you cant since we both already have the disease that his bodies immune system should already be fighting of the virus so it wont keep repeating but I still have the breakout down there I just dont want to keep having sex and we keep breaking out. Someone please respond soon.IP: Logged |

My wife (then GF) gave me HPV. She had no signs of warts until she was pregnant and then started to break out. I developed warts about 6 months later. We've been married now for almost 12 yrs and have had no relapse. I'm not sure about passing it back and forth since we are permanently infected. BUT..... You both need to go to your doctors immediately and have them removed. They used a liquid to dab on the warts which kind of burned them. My wife's started growing so fast that she had to go to the hospital and have the larger ones burned off with a laser. So take it from experience, don't wait and get to your doctor ASAP.

okay but you guys still can have unprotected sex and it has never came back. We plan to stay together but I was just wondering if we would have to wear a condom even after they were removed? Thanks for you advice though much more comforting.IP: Logged |

I never asked the doctor but we never used condoms following the removal of the warts and we have never had any new growths. I'm not sure if the virus is transfered to the other person just through sexual contact or if you have to have some growths. I believe your body doesn't eliminate the virus. So I suppose I/we could break out in the future. Something I should ask my doctor I guess.[This message has been edited by sdp (edited January 04, 2001).] IP: Logged |

YES, HPV CAN BE TRANSMITTED WITHOUT THE VISIBLE SIGNS!!! You may not see it, but it will ALWAYS be there. Please be careful!

I read what you all have posted and really hope I don't have these warts forever. I have just been treated for them and I'd hate to continue to have them. But in this book Changing Bodies, Changing Lives by Ruth Bell I haven't been able to find that info and I'm going to ask my doctor about it too. I would like to past on these two sentence that I came across under "Facts on Veneral Warts." The first one is under "How Are They Passed?" and the sentence says "Not everyone who comes in contact with warts will catch them. But then under "Prevention" and then under "Extra Precautions" it says "Use foam and condoms or other barriers during intercourse. These may help to keep the germs from passing from one person to another, although theoretically virus germs can travel through most barriers." Now, can these warts be pasted during oral sex? I had a small bump that resembled a birth mark checked out about a year ago. It was buried in the pubic region not on the penis or testicles, sac etc. The dermatologist said he was about 70% sure it was nothing. Does it actually grow over time? or does it stay the same size always?

HPV warts kind of look like cauliflower in texture. If it doesn't look like that then it probably isn't HPV. And yes, warts can grow.IP: Logged |

sdp, that's not always the case. HPV warts can look like just about anything. There are some kinds that are flat, and just about invisible. The ones I have don't rewemble anything, they're just very small slightly darker bumps. They feel like normal skin. IP: Logged |
