can women get boils on the labia? It is round, hard and small. After about a week, it breaks like a boil - and bleeds for a moment then it's gone in a day or two. Often times it lasts a week or so, very painful just before it breaks, itchy once in a while before that. What the heck is it? No, hygine is not an issue. Thanks.IP: Logged |

It could be very possible that they are ingrown hairs or irritated hair follicles. But it is always good to be checked out, because if the "erupt", infection maybe present that could spread to your reproductive system. IP: Logged |

I agree with the previous reply - they are most likely infected hair follicles, somewhat like a pimple. Washing with an antibacterial soap, like Dial, and using a cotton swab with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the area will help cure them and keep them away.

i agree with amanda. it could be an std.. instead of all hubba-bubba about home treatment.. take her to a docter. the best thing to do in anything out of ordinary and specially when there is boil in an area. where its hard to say what it might be..IP: Logged |

Sound like bartholin's cysts. There are small glands which produce lubricant called bartholin's glands. Sometimes they get blocked and swell up until they burst like a boil. They can be painful. If they recur often it is wise to get adoctor to check them out. In themeantime see to genital hygiene, no strong soaps, vaginal sprays or other chemicals. CLean down below twice a day.

i have the exact same thing right now !!! its like a little bump on my labia menora, it started to come about a week ago, around the time that i had my period and now its a hard little bump under the skin, thats a bit painful and sometimes itchy........ i saw a doctor already and he said its a gland, nothing to worry about. if youve got one, leave it alone, treat it like you would a pimple. it should go away on its own, but if it doesnt, they might have to lance it if its gets too painful.IP: Logged |

My God, These things have been plaguing my Girlfriend for years. She can develop one of these zits anywhere on her labia minora, not just the immediate Bartholin gland area. Like facial acne, they seem to develop more when see is under stress. She has been tested and is disease free. The damn things look and act just like zits, and my poor girlfriend can find no information about it (aside from this thread). Can anyone direct me to a site with more information? I would really like to help her with this. At least now she won't think she is the only one...IP: Logged |

I get them too, it's been driving me crazy what they are cause I'm pretty much positive it can't be an STD. Does anyone know if there's anyting you can do about the pain or how to prevent themIP: Logged |

Those very well can be boils on your labia. I have a cousin that gets them regularly. I also mistakenly took a hair bump for a boil. It too was very painfull, bleed, and leaked. The best way to know for sure is to call your Dr. or go in for a visit. Give it a few days if it is a hair bump (like mine was) it should take a couple of weeks for it to grow out you may need to take tweezers to it if you can stand it. If you can't chances are you need to see a Doctor.IP: Logged |
