Why getting “Caught Masturbating” could ruin your life

“Getting caught masturbating” is the second most popular topic on Afraidtoask.com.  Today, I just wanted to shed some precaution so “getting caught” doesn’t turn into “getting screwed” in the way that you don’t want to get screwed.

I know that many of our visitors are not only from the U.S. but also Canada, Australia, and the U.K

So what can get you into trouble?

United States:

Indecent exposure laws in the U.S. tend to be the strictest.  MOST states prohibit the exposure of genitals (penis/vagina) and female nipples (except when breastfeeding).  For specific state specific laws, referred to your state government websites.

In general, you’ll have legal consequences if you are 1) showing genitals 2) doing something sexual such as masturbation or 3) 1+2 near minors in public.

Indecent exposure can subject you to fines, prison, and the requirement to be registered as a sex offender.  The last part really puts a strain on your life moving forward because it’s nearly impossible to get off a sex offender list.  You’ll have to report and explain the your situation to every school, professional licensing group, and employer.  Plus, there are apps that tell all your neighbors that there’s a sex offender in the area.  This could really put strains on relationships for your spouse or children.

United Kingdom:
It is illegal to expose your genitals only if you meant to shock individuals who do not want to see them.  Although the maximum sentence is 2 years in prison, it’s generally persecuted with a fine.  For more info, check out the Sexual Offences Act of 2003

Canada:
Canadian law discourages the exposure of genitals/female nipples to individuals under 16 for sexual purposes.  However, if an act is sexual and has the potential to offend someone then civil/criminal penalties may arise.

Australia:
Although exposure of genitals in some jurisdictions is not illegal, a sexual act such as masturbation can lead to fines or imprisonment.

Summary:
You will probably win the lottery before a stranger will fulfill your sexual fantasy if they catch you masturbating in public.

The best result of getting caught in public is a hefty dose of awkwardness and embarrassment.  The worse case scenario could result in hefty fines, prison, and having to register as a sex offender.  If you’re going to masturbate, be safe and do it in private.

  1. Masturbation is a widespread phenomena. We see in our daily life that sexual
desires keep strong during the bloom of our youth period. In this period our
powerful hormones are released which is affecting the reproductive organs of
    youth. (http://bit.ly/JH12345)
